Use up your old bobbins!

Image
Here is a video showing how the Pfaff c-1100 pro works doing applique. I also wanted to show a tip how to use up old bobbins.

Gay Pride --

I had too much fun during Portland Pride this year. I worked hard to try to help other people have fun - and I went to new events to see what my friends were bringing out to the party!

Vacation quilts...

I'm going to be visiting my parents for a few days. I have machines ready and fabrics packed. I'm planning to make a pile of new quilts. I want to make a full size pinks quilt to send to the HLCCA conference celebrating the newest fiesta dinnerware color, flamingo! ... Oh no, I might not be able to post pics with this I pad. Poop.

Baby quilts -

I made two little baby quilts -- I love love the colors. There are light Pinks - so light they look white in this picture- right up to bold pinks, neon really. And some grey pinks and a grey border.

Gender -

Image
I was just interviewed for an article about gender ... I wore this outfit to the interview. I do sew some cool stuff.

I want to keep making quilts - even in summer!

Image
I have been sewing like crazy but - making drag dresses for a pageant I was in. The dresses were simple but, made from great fabrics. Now the sun is out - its warm (for today at least) outside and not many people are thinking about a cozy quilt. Here in Maine the rain usually lasts until the second or third week in June then BAM - we get all sorts of heat and humidity. Maybe Ill try to sell quilts on ETSY -- I love quilting and would like to just keep doing quilting instead of looking for other things to sew for summer. See? Simple styles made great with fabric!

Drag Queen quilter -- yarn couching.. and pagent drag.

Video review Bernina 530 ...

Image
I bought a Bernina 530 .. its a really nice machine, but the bed and lack of an auto thread cutter was a deal breaker for me. I decided to sell the machine.

Video review of the Smarter by Pfaff c-1100 pro.

Im starting to really get used to and love the Smarter.

Pillow Talk

Image
I had some circles leftover from the last quilt and decided to try to make a pillow... I added some couched yarn to it.

Another new toy -- My Bernina 530

Image
I came across a great deal on a Bernina and bought it. I feel a little nuts for buying it on a whim the way I did. The machine is great - very very classy. But, the harp is really small for quilting and I love thread snips to be auto. I am a lead foot and the auto cutter just makes it one second faster to quilt. The Bernia may not stick around here - as much as I have bitched about the Smarter by Pfaff - Im starting to really love it. The Bernina 530 seems like a solid machine, it does things really well... I had a hard time doing raw edge applique with it.. the fabric kept getting bunched up in front of the foot even with my adjusting the pressure foot ... the pfaff never had any problem with feeding. The Bernina also ate my fabrics a few times -- maybe wrong needle .. but, with a 5.5mm needle hole it really pissed me off as the Pfaff does not eat fabric at all and it has a 9 mm hole where the needle is. I am also used to the dual feed on the Pfaff and the needle up/down v
