Recycled fabric quilt --

Image
I thought I would post a pic of the jean tumbling blocks quilt on display. I love the borders. George, looking ready to tell me to stop taking flash pics of him. This is all made from khaki and other mens dress pants. I started to add borders - I wanted the quilt to be a king size - and decided the green/gold colors would make a great addition to the other tones in the quilt. But, the green was too much alone - so I added some applique stars. Before the applique Free Motion quilting -- Well, here is the finished quilt --  I really love the quilt - of course one pic had to decide not to fall where I wanted it. The quilt is huge. King size with nearly 20 inc drop and tuck. Huge.

This is how it started ..

I saw a quilt I liked that was made like this -- So - I cut up a pile of pieces and made my own -- I did not have a pattern - but, I think everything is OK.                               I really like the way it turned out -- I dont know that I have ever used white b-4 as a background. Well, I have made a few Red and white quilts -- I guess i have .. but, I like this one. We will see how I finish it. Most of these fabrics are commercial quilting fabrics that were given to me as scraps from my Aunt who is a quilter. I used a cool process that I saw on a jenny doan youtube video - I used 10 inch squares - sewn together at 1/4 inch all around the outside -- (right sides together) then cut them all into an *X* -- magic = 4 half square finished triangles. The cutting took longer than anything else...

not many words tonight.

More on this quilt ---

I added a green boarder to all of this. I hope I can finish up this quilt soon - Im afraid that moving it around so much might make parts of it get stretched out -- oh well. I still dont know quite how I want to quilt it anyhow. Ill have to cut a few more blocks worth of pieces to finish putting the 4 piece blocks on the outside edges. I think the quilt is really a good one - it was fun to cut the pieces and have then line up. Ive not really been able to do that in the past.

Test Piece!
