Tiny condo - making food.

Image
Living small works great for me. I have a micro condo, 250 sf. Look for more posts about the small house goals and cheap living skills I'm trying to develop. One goal is trying to make myself eat more veggies. Not any specific food goal besides eating tons of veggies and less garbage. Dont look for chef made foods - not a foodie - and do not aspire to be. But, look for things that are simple and try to be high quality. Posting pics and trying to fine more people to chat with about small homes, living with less by choice, having more time to do the things I love. Every hour that I dont spend working for someone else I get to enjoy my own hobbies. Ive been eating better foods for about 8 days. (Today is November 8, 2013.) I am diabetic (type 2) and have been tired for the entire last year, when I was first diagnosed as diabetic. Medication did not really work and gave me unacceptable side effects. Anyhow - I got this stuff at the grocery store today. Im making steam...

Art Walk -

Image
I took some quilts to the art walk tonight. Lots of people seemed interested in visiting the website and looking at more quilt pics.  If you are one of those people - hello!  My site is simple but, I try to update it often and keep the content to pictures of quilts. I hope you enjoy looking at the site. Leave comments if you like. I usually answer them. A few people follow and comment often. I appreciate the conversation.

I was in a MOVIE!

Image
Someone is filming a movie locally and, I got to be in it. They had heard about me from different people and decided that Taffy would be the perfect addition to their cast. I got to play a guidance Councillor. I got paid and everything. This is the costume I wore. The scene was all improve and I put all my years of therapy to use! I must have said every ignorant pop psycho-babel line Ive ever heard!            We had hoot of a time.

New Denim quilt!

That is my kitchen - It got taken over with fabrics.  That is a baby quilt I made. I used some of the extra blocks from a past quilt to finish it off.

White quilt -

Image
Ive never made a white quilt before. This one is a commission. I used a bit of every white fabric I could find. I have made the pattern before. Just never a white quilt. This one will end up a king size at the end. I have what I think Is all of the blocks made for it -- it will have a border and then it will be quilted. The back is also going to be white. I think it will be stunning. When its finished.

Half way there!

Im half way to the goal!  save my house link I am going to make a signature quilt with the names of everyone who helps me out on it. Im excited to be a part of that quilt making tradition. Any amount from $5. - $50. will get a signature on the signature quilt. For $100 Im making people baby quilt size quilts - about 36 by 36. Ill make it as a baby quilt, wall art quilt or table top quilt.  For $300 Ill make a queen size quilt - Ill make any style in any colorway - or make an original.  save my house link Im surprised and humbled that Ive had so much help doing this.  Thank you.

I finished my Mystery quilt -

Image
Well, I started with best intentions .. and fell behind pretty fast. I only got the first step done. I picked out the fabrics. I love the "barn raising" pattern and decided to make my mystery quilt fabrics into a barn raising style quilt. Here are some pics. I really love the way the quilt came out - I love love the Free Motion Quilting. I used about 5 different kinds of threads. I doubled some threads up and used Some thick deco threads, too.

Scarves! I love them.

I love to wear scarves. I like them to be big and bright and have enough firmness in them to be able to stand up around my nose when its really cold - just put some batting or other recycled fabric inside -it will be enough to make it have body. It had been really cold around here - and I wonder how people feel about those little flimsy things they have wrapped around their necks ... they are woven so thin they are see through. I need a quilt around my neck. My scarves are made just like quilts - pieced and then quilted with batting - then a binding. Perfect!! Happy Freezing weather!

Im one binding away from finished -

Image
I love it. Its quilted and ready for a binding - I haven't decided what the binding will be yet.

Still cleaning -- idea's for 100% Polyester.

I have a huge variety of vintage 100% polyester fabric. Lots of the pieces are 6-7 yards long and 60 or so inches wide.  The 100% polyester section of my stash accounts for probably only 20% of the whole but, The pieces are so big that they are a challenge to work with when I dont like them but present a great chance to get in some huge pieces for color blocks in quilts ...  I got all this fabric last summer, from craigslist (site unseen). And ad showed up for 30 boxes of fabric for 20.00. I jumped on it. I was sorta new at sewing and did not care - (I would still buy it now) - Anyhow ... here are some projects Ive made from that fabric.  The above quilt is double sided - no batting - 100% polyester. The above quilt is 100% polyester - no batting - polyester back. (Gees bend copy) The above quilt is 100% polyester - poly back, also and a cotton batting.    ...

More on this quilt ---

I added a green boarder to all of this. I hope I can finish up this quilt soon - Im afraid that moving it around so much might make parts of it get stretched out -- oh well. I still dont know quite how I want to quilt it anyhow. Ill have to cut a few more blocks worth of pieces to finish putting the 4 piece blocks on the outside edges. I think the quilt is really a good one - it was fun to cut the pieces and have then line up. Ive not really been able to do that in the past.

Quilt show !!

I have posted pics of all these quilts before -- but, I thought it was nice to post them hung up.
