Holiday!?

I have never been a person with lots of money around.

It can be really hard to relax and try to take time to not work.

Ok - Im going to try to say it again.

Not Work. (for a whole day .. for two days?)

I mean - "days off" is crazy talk in my life. I take breaks from work. I have fun. Im a drag queen for heavens sake! But thats work. Drag is fun work - but, its still work.

I hope all of us can find a way to take a few hours off - and not do anything. I dont think I can do a whole day or even a few days. But - I think I can take a few hours.

I already know what I want to do! I want to take George out for a walk - and walk really slow - and go to the dog park and sit and watch him play.

And, do nothing else. No magazine - No quilt planning or thinking about ways to pay bills. Just enjoy watching George playing with the other dogs.

That will be my more spiritual present to myself this year.

The material gift is sorta work related - Im going to buy some new kinds of threads to sew with and try out. Its fun for me, too. But thats my material gift.

I have not really given anyone gifts this year. I finally thought of a way to give a gift that would feel good. I have a friend who has three kids that I made quilts for last year. I just got in touch with his husband and asked for him to slip a card in his stocking from him and the kids for a big king size quilt for their bed. I think that is a great gift to give to someone. I think the kids will feel great about giving dad something and maybe the husband will feel excited about it too? I dont know - but I think if someone said "Hey here are some hand made dong treats give them to your dog" I would like it --

I am also working on a few things with the house - Im working on a re-finance and hopefully after that I will work on getting some improvements done that have been waiting awhile. Its a personal gift to myself. And Ive been working on it for months. But, its still in process.

Thank you for visiting the blog - and I hope everyone (everyone) can find way to give a surprise to a friend - an hour to rest their brain - find a way to give themselves a material gift and a try to do something to make their home, their home.

Again, thank you for visiting.

Ho Ho Ho

Tumbling Blocks quilt.

Well, the tumbling blocks quilt is close to being done. I have to add a binding and then we are all done.

I also wanted to add a pic of me saying "Hi" -

tumbling blocks quilt

I got a commission for a tumbling blocks quilt - He wanted blues and liked a quilt he saw of mine that was made from recycled pants.

George watched over the whole thing.

The diamonds in this jean quilt are all the same size as each of the diamonds in this quilt.
Ive been working on this denim tumbling blocks quilt -

quilts

I have been making all sorts of quilts.

Ive been sewing like nuts.

chat boards.

I think I'm ready to give up on another chat board.

I cant stand the petty babysitting that goes on.

One lady really told me to stay on topic in threads - in the same post where she lamented the recent loss of her mother in-law. All in a sewing machine thread!

Im pretty tired of dealing with those ass holes.

Im unhappy about it. Im tired of it.

I started a new thread in the "quilting" section to talk about some quilts I had made -- and a lady said I should start my own blog. Im kinda tired of it.

Yesterday I made a joke about being done with social work and said now that Im a quilter I get to be the cutter for once - and now that post is gone.

Im not such a crazy person -

SO - I might STOP going to that website so often and come to my own more often. Where the people who visit like what I have to say. And enjoy the things I say.

Thank you for visiting my site.

Well, Ive been working on this -

Im really happy with the way that it is coming out - I have to figure out what color to use for the binding --but other than that - it DONE.

Its made from 2 fabrics in the center - each other them is a stripe fabric -- then on the border there is a third fabric - the solid red -- other than that -- this quilt is one block and 2 fabrics I think thats pretty cool and pretty stunning for a simple quilt.

I made a new quilt -

I needed to take a break from the small pieces quilts.

This quilt is sewn over an old ugly quilt that I made and never really liked. Its all applique on top of the old top.

It has a little binding on it now and nothing more. A few flowers - a fence - and a path -- thats what I see.

I like it - for what it is intended to be. its 100% ugly polyester fabric - heavy - and perfect for hard use!

It took forever - and this drove me krazy

The angles in the corners drove me nuts.

Im no math person - if you ever want to make a star quilt i say -- use a 40 degree diamond so - the angles will be easy.
